A 3-month Basic Drug Allergy Certification Course designed for Pediatricians, Allergists, ENT Specialists, General Medicine and Family Medicine Specialists. The programme builds practical, everyday skills in the diagnosis and management of drug allergy across specialties, including recognition and management of drug-induced anaphylaxis and common drug hypersensitivity reactions.

The Advanced Certification includes the complete 3-month, 16-module Basic Course followed by an additional 1-month advanced module with 6 hands-on, high-risk procedure-focused modules, covering skin prick testing, intradermal testing, drug challenge testing and desensitization.

The Drug Allergy Certification Programme is designed to build practical clinical skills in the diagnosis and management of drug allergy across specialties. The 3-month Basic Course covers drug hypersensitivity, allergy history, drug-induced anaphylaxis, beta-lactam and non-beta-lactam antibiotic allergies, NSAID hypersensitivity, anaesthetic and perioperative reactions, radiocontrast media reactions, vaccine allergy, anticonvulsant and anti-tuberculosis drug reactions, severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions, biologics and chemotherapy-related hypersensitivity, and diagnostic documentation and referral pathways.

The Advanced Certification extends the programme with a dedicated fourth month focused on high-risk, hands-on procedures, including skin prick testing, intradermal testing, drug provocation and challenge testing, drug desensitization, safety and emergency preparedness, and advanced documentation and practice development.

  • Understand the foundations and mechanisms of drug hypersensitivity reactions, including immediate and delayed reactions.
  • Differentiate true drug allergy, intolerance and pseudo-allergy.
  • Take a structured drug allergy history and identify immediate versus delayed reaction patterns.
  • Recognise and manage drug-induced anaphylaxis, including emergency management.
  • Assess and manage common beta-lactam, non-beta-lactam antibiotic and NSAID hypersensitivity.
  • Recognise anaesthetic, perioperative, radiocontrast media and vaccine-related reactions.
  • Identify severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions, including SJS/TEN, DRESS and AGEP.
  • Understand hypersensitivity reactions associated with anticonvulsants, anti-tuberculosis drugs, biologics and chemotherapy.
  • Develop appropriate diagnostic, documentation and referral pathways for suspected drug allergy.
  • For Advanced Certification, develop practical skills in skin prick testing, intradermal testing, drug challenge testing and desensitization.
  • Understand safety, infrastructure, emergency preparedness, consent and documentation required for an advanced drug allergy testing service.

During the enrollment process, it is essential to upload all required documents as self-attested soft copies to our portal for verification. Please note that original documents or hard copies are not needed. Verification of the submitted documents will be completed before the selection process.

It will be mandatory for all the enrolled candidates to follow the course curriculum guidelines completely, failing which either their candidature may be cancelled or they will be not allowed to appear in the exit exam. The decision by DACC governing body will be final and binding to all in this regard.

As per the University guidelines:

  • A maximum of two examination attempts is permitted from the date of the doctor’s initial enrolment.
  • The examination attempt with the enrolled batch is included within these two permitted attempts.
  • If a doctor is unable to attend or appear for the Exit Examination with the enrolled batch and subsequently appears with a subsequent batch, an additional examination fee of ₹ 3,000 will be applicable.
  • The doctor must clear the Exit Examination within the two permitted attempts.
  • If the doctor does not complete or clear the examination within the permitted two attempts, they will be discontinued from the programme, and no further examination attempts will be permitted.

There will be NO refund of any part of the fee after submission, even if the candidate chooses not to join the course or discontinue in between due to any reason. The fee will NOT be transferred to another candidates account if any candidate wishes to do so. In case of any unusual circumstance, the decision of the DACC governing body will be final and binding to everyone.

Successful candidates will be awarded the certificate of the “Drug Allergy Certificate Course” by MedTrain Academy of Medical Education via postage to your registered address.
